Casa degli Ulivi is an old farmhouse that has been completely renovated by the owners as their principal residence. The villa, set in an olive grove in the Lucca hills at the foot of Monte Penna and just 5 km from the old city walls of Lucca, offers a spectacular view over the plain of Lucca and the surrounding hills. The villa, plastered with stone details, is furnished with beautifully made furniture. From the house, Lucca can be easily reached by bus and it is also possible to make day trips to the famous villas of Lucca, to Versilia for beach lovers and to the famous tourist cities of Tuscany such as Pisa with its Piazza dei Miracoli (13 km), Florence (78 km), the marble quarries of Carrara and the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside the property, 20 mts from the villa, is the caretaker’s house with separate entrance.
Interior:
The house has two floors. On the ground floor is the entrance hall, a dining room and kitchen with access to the pergola through French window. Also on this floor is a bathroom with shower and a billiard room. A terracotta staircase leading up to the first floor opens on to a large living room with outside access through large glass doors. The sleeping area is composed of two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom looking out on to a small terrace with two bathrooms next to them, one with shower and one with tub. Also on this floor is a bedroom with queen-size bed (1,40 mt wide) and en-suite bathroom. A spiral staircase leads up to the attic where there is a studio. The interior is well maintained with made-to-measure wooden furniture and large windows providing fresh air and light and a good view over the surrounding hills and plain of Lucca (please note that the fireplace is ornamental). Air conditioning in the bedrooms and air conditioning portable in the bedroom with French bed.
Park:
The property covers about 13,000 sq mt of land. The part around the house is typically flat. The property is completely fenced-in and planted with olive trees (about 300 trees). There is also a small enclosure for dogs. Guests can cool down in the shade of the numerous ornamental and fruit trees. Next to the swimming pool there is an oven ideal per making pizzas with tables and bench.Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
About 7 metres from the house and visible from the pergola is the pool which looks out over the Monti Pisani mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy. With a terracotta border harmonizing well with the landscape, the rectangular-shaped pool measures 6 x 12 mt with a depth varying from 1,50 to 3 mt; it is lined in blue PVC and purified with salt. Entrance to the water is by a steel ladder The pool area is characterized by a well-kept lawn and is provided with sunbeds, deckchairs and umbrellas. At disposal of the guests is a bathroom with shower. The pool is open from the last Saturday in April until the first Saturday in October.
