Ten years ago, the owners Dianora and Luciano, on holiday in Apulia, were fascinated by the scents and colours of this southern corner of Italy. The bond with this territory became so deep that they purchased some land with a 19th century trullo, entrusting the restoration of the entire area to a young architect from San Vito dei Normanni to obtain a unique architectural project. The intent was to provide top-class hospitality, having as a priority the preservation of the authentic countryside of the locality. This is how Villa Dianora was born. The entire plaster-covered building of about 90 sq m stands in a total area of 4000 sq m, perfectly incorporated in a private residential context with breathtaking views of the Ostuni marina, very close to the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima di Belvedere. Entrusted to some of the most renowned local craftsmen, the project was to be definitively completed in March 2023. For this villa, entirely paved with porcelain stoneware and equipped with a photovoltaic system, only hi-tech materials were used for both the interior and for the door and window fixtures, logically oriented towards a low environmental impact. Villa Dianora was also designed to optimally manage the daily exposure to the sun typical of this geographical latitude: an electric bioclimatic awning at the entrance and a classic one at the back ensure shaded areas ideal for alfresco lunches and breakfasts. A short walk from the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve and the most renowned beaches of the Upper Salento, Villa Dianora is also a good starting point for excursions into the Brindisi hinterland, a few kilometres from the Itria Valley.
Interior:
The villa has only one floor. Once inside, you come to a large open-plan area with panoramic windows consisting of a sitting room with satellite TV and a super modern kitchen complete with cooking area on one side and worktop on the other. On either side of the living area are the bedrooms and bathrooms: on one side, two double bedrooms with king-size beds sharing a bathroom with shower and, on the other, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower. The floor is completed by the laundry room with access from the outside (on the side of the pergola). Air Conditioning only in the bedrooms.
Park:
The property extends over a fenced terrain of about 4000 sq m, a large part covered by olive trees and the rest by a great variety of typical plants that frame and envelop the entire building on all sides up to the pool area bordered by a row of splendid agapanthus. The fence is with wire mesh and covers the entire perimeter of the villa. Past the corten-coloured, swing entrance gate, a concrete ramp leads, on the right, to the convenient private parking area at the beginning of the garden. A 20 m walkway in Trani stone leads to the main entrance of the villa. This is the exact point where the refined lines of the interior meet the minimal and functional design of the external bioclimatic pergola with electronic opening, and where the outdoor dining area, which extends into the sitting area next to the swimming pool, has been set up. Conveniently located on a paved platform is a steel barbecue. Please notice that photos are taken in spring, therefore flower blossoming, and the colours of the gardens' grass could be different at the moment of your arrival at the villa.
Swimming Pool:
Rectangular and measuring 10 x 4 m, the swimming pool is characterised by its extraordinary sapphire-green colour, thanks to the bottom and walls realised entirely in non-slip and athermal porcelain stoneware, which gives the water unique hues especially at night, when the internal lights are switched on. The entire area is unfenced and a row of agapanthus along the east wall of the pool creates a breathtaking natural setting with a view of the coast south of Ostuni. A teak surface frames the solarium equipped with sunbeds, the hot and cold-water outdoor shower and the large outdoor sitting area located between the veranda and the pool itself. The entire area can be reached directly from the villa down two teak steps along the entire front of the villa.
