Standing on a spur of rock and travertine, a hundred metres from a cliff above the gorge of the river Rio Grande, is the splendid Casale di Totano, a former 11th century Benedictine monastery with a unique charm. Its particular position suggests that it was originally a shelter for pilgrims on their way to Rome. Completely clad in stone, the property was restored by the current owners who have preserved, in the welcoming rooms, its vocation for hospitality.
