Ideal for a romantic honeymoon or for families, the villa is within walking distance of the seaside town of Almyrida and its beaches. The interiors of Villa Vereniki are calming, with stone framed, large windows showcasing the view of the rugged beauty of the surrounding countryside. An outdoor terrace includes a private pool, an outdoor dining table and an outdoor kitchen – we suggest enjoying evening drinks on the terrace watching the spectacular sunset. The local area Alymrida is a 15 – 20 minute walk away from the villa, with several excellent tavernas serving freshly caught seafood, a beach and a bakery. Teenagers are welcome in the handful of low-key bars, which are close enough to the villa for peace of mind while adults enjoy a peaceful evening on the terrace! For families with small children, we recommend driving to Alymrida – it only takes 5 minutes and children can save their energy for playing on the three beaches in the area. There are both pebble and sand beaches, and there is equipment hire and tuition for windsurfing if you are feeling adventurous. Lake Kournas is a 35-minute drive away and boar hire is available in Kalves, which is a 5-minute drive away. For those wanting to explore Crete further, there are many traditional inland villages on the Apokronos, such as Plaka and Gavalochori.
