If you’re looking for an island hideaway just for two, then Arethusa Cottage is your dream rental. Located just a 15-minute walk from beautiful Dexa Beach (awarded Blue Flag status for cleanliness) this cute cottage is the perfect place to recline in the shade of an olive tree with a book, swim in Ithaca’s jewel-colored waters and enjoy a cooling drink at the simple beach bar a short stroll away. The cottage has a mezzanine bedroom over an open-plan living room, though it’s likely you’ll spend most of your time outdoors in the pretty garden or private swimming pool. There are walking trails nearby so you can explore island life at your own pace, or for a slightly livelier atmosphere, you can drive to the island capital Vathy in around five minutes. Here you’ll find a good selection of shops and local tavernas, bars and cafés for an authentic taste of Greece with a dash of Italian inspiration. Guided walks can also be arranged, plus boat rental, kayaking and scuba diving, on request. Arethusa is very private and separate from neighboring Amalthia Cottage, but if you’re traveling as two couples, the two properties would make an ideal base for you all.
